Baby Shower

-At the shower-

here's my cake. didn't turn out proportionally correct! not bad for the first time- although i think it could've been worse, it def could've been better! i'll know what to change next time :)

i decided to give a "fruit flower arrangement" a try. it was def easy! i will be doing this again!
I just found a basket for the bottom. fill it with something heavy, then add floral foam. i used skewers for shishkabobs and added fruit. i used a cookie cutter for the pineapple and just used a tablespoon to scoop the cantalope. i tried to create an odd number of sticks that were the same. once i stuck them all in the floral foam and arranged to my hearts content, I then threw in some parlsey all over the bottom and between the fruit. wa-la.

my diaper cake. i can't throw a shower without doing one of these. just tie each diaper with a ribbon. combine them into separate layers- each one smaller. use some more ribbon to connect them together. then add little trinkets to it. i like to throw in bibs, shoes, books(under each layer), roll up parts of an outfit, ect....

Baby Shower Invites

I have a baby shower I am putting on later this week. These are my invitations! I love how they turned out. First, I steamed fortune cookies open, took out the fortune and replaced it with my rsvp.

This is how I steamed them- a boiling pot of water on the stove. It's easiest to just do a few at a time. They will become soft for you to open them up a bit. Tweezers are a handy tool. Once finished, just allow them time to completley harden.

I printed the poem on scrapbook paper from the computer. With a practice paper I made sure there was enough space for me to fill in the spaces with hand-written calligraphy. I based that paper onto cardstock and hole punched to add a piece of ribbon.

On the back, I attached the fortune cookie (which is placed in a sandwich baggie) - which was dipped in white chocolate (tinted green).

- just to add- this baby shower is for a Korean gal, hence the fortune cookie. She is also using the color green for her little girls room. Green in their culture is yellow in ours.

Crayola Rollers

I have recently made some crayon and marker roll-ups! I love them. They have been just perfect for church. This is and easy project and a good way to use up scrap fabric.

Nursing Covers

A good friend made me a nursing cover, so I copied the pattern and made some for gifts.

The strap around the neck is adjustable. On the inside there is a burpcloth built into the corner to wipe baby's face, and a pocket to insert your nursing pads.

My next project...who knows when...will be a reversible nursing cover.

Birdie Bags

These are the "Amy Butler" Birdie Bags.
These are a total hit in our ward right now. They're dang cute, the perfect diaper bag, and they're pretty easy to make!

On the two bags I've made (so far), I've made the inside a separate color.
